Horn Lake was first settled in 1832 and began to evolve into a town when the Memphis and Grenada Railroad ran through the area. In 1856, a depot was built, and the area then became known as Horn Lake. The greatest growth in Horn Lake has taken place since 1959 as new industries were attracted to the area. Following its incorporation in 1973, many new municipal buildings were built.
